Stix & Stones II 1-10-08

This pisses me off and I'm bored at work , so...
During a telecast from Hawaii over the weekend, Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman said that the only way young golfer have a chance of beating Tiger Woods would be to "lynch him in a back alley."
Tiger said it was no big deal and Kelly appoligzed to Tiger and on air to anybody that may have been offended. The Golf Channel even put out a press release stating the same thing. And all was well...
But that wasn't good enough for Al Sharpton , who went on CNN and said "If I got on this show and said I wanted to put some Jewish-American in a gas chamber, I don't care what context I said it in, the entire Jewish community would have the right to say I should be put off this show or my radio show if I said it there, or if I said I wanted to see a woman raped" (1:37 into video)
Kelly is now being suspended for two weeks, but it's amazing to me that a slip of the tounge that was in no way meant to be offensive leads to a two week suspension, but the good Reverend will get no backlash for his pre-concieved words. The same way he got little backlash for saying about Mit Romney a few months ago: " As for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyways, so don't worry about that; that's a temporary situation."
I've said things I'm not too proud of, and I have lost a job for using the word "Chink" (It was a parody song and it rhymed with "Think"), but why is it OK for Big Al to say whatever he wants, but if it comes out of the mouth of me, or Steve, or any other non-black - it must me racist.
My parents taught me young that "Sticks and Stones will break my bones, but Names will never hurt me." I think that's a platform for a president to run on.
Now let's just hope I don't get lynched with sticks and stones for saying this.
