Why do I keep writing 1986 on my Checks today

11 Days ago the Bears Season ended on a disappointing note. But 20 years ago today, it ended in a triumphant crescendo.
For my father's Generation, they say you never forget where you were when you found out Kennedy was assassinated. For my generation, they say you never forget where you were when the Challenger Exploded. But for any Chicago Sports Fan over the age of 25, You will never forget where you were when the Bears Dominated the Patriots 46-10 in Superbowl XX. My brother and I spent the weekend at a friend of my brother's (Brent Lewis) at the Cove Landings Condo's in Lombard. We played D&D all morning, and then watched the game at 3:00 in the afternoon (remember the 3:00 kickoff for a Superbowl)
My parents went to New Orleans. My dad bought one ticket, watched the first half while my mom waited in a bar. At Half-time (and this is soooooo pre-9-11) some Patriot fans were leaving and threw their ticket stubs on the ground, my dad picked them up. They let people leave the Superdome and come back in back in the day. So my dad went across the street, got my mom, and they both watched the second half from the 40 yard line. Not many women would do that.
Anyway, I don't have much to say about me in this post right now. The new job/owner is not going as easy as I had hoped. But I couldn't Not make a post on January 26, 1986..
damn, I did it again.

New Job
Twas a week before Christmas and all thru the King,
Managers were buzzing about the rumors flying.
The Owner of ours franchise for the past 18 years,
might be selling his business, all of us feared.
I'd been with this man since mid 94
was there for the good times and there for my divorce.
A boss who's a friend, and treated every one fair.
twas rumors that soon he would not be there.
Then in thru the back door the boss man did walk,
"come into the office Vince, we need to talk."
At first I was nervous, to the store he rarley came
I was fraid it might be another sexual harrasment claim.
"The rumors you hear are bout to come true.
I'm getting rid of all my stores except the one run by you"
"I'm telling you first so it's not a surprise,
but you're part of the sale to the Heartland Franchise."
When he said he was giving me up, I almost wept.
He had no other chioce, he was in so much debt.
"But in order to do this" he went on with his score,
"I need to switch you with a manager from another store.
I trembled with fear, cause I've heard this before,
there was Marseilles, Joliet, and the Blue Island Store.
But he said Aurora would be my new beat
I sighed in releif, it was right up the street.
He Said "I really appriciate all that you do,
but I know running one store is not the end for you"
"There's room for advancement if you play your card's right.
They have 250 BK's" I smiled with delight
Two days before Christmas we all met the new Owner,
I was ready for this, but soon felt like a loner.
I knew this gentleman, and not for somthing dear.
he left my store last week, an angry Customer.
We were not allowed to sell the Star Wars Toys without a kids meal.
It was explained to him thrice and he made it a big deal.
I showed him the sign, he didn't give a shit.
I said "Are you Deaf, Blind, or just Illiterate"
I don't know if her remebered me as we all sat and mingled,
but he gave me a look that made my spine tingle.
He said not one word about the ordeal.
but I fear that a promotion is not in the deal.
We'll meet one on one later this week
and the sale will take place soon after the 15th.
we'll see what goes down, if that day I do rue,
what's a 31 year old with no College to do?

where do you keep your Buccaneers?
Under your Buccan hat...
But anyway, I can't beleive I haven't posted in almost a month. Another Christmas, Another New Year, and a new Job (possibly)...but we'll get to that later.
What brings me here today is January 14th or 15th?
A question that is pissing off Bears fans with Tickets. The NFL has said that if the Buccaneers beat the Redskins, The Bears play on Saturday, BUT, if the Redskins pull off the upset, the Bears will play either the Giants or Panthers winner on Sunday.
There are a few reasons I'll be cheering for the Buc's this weekend. None of which is to make Kal happy.
First being for my sister. My mother, in her non-sports thinking mind, scheduled my sister's baby shower on the 15th. My 8-month pregnant sister and her husband have already told my mother that if the Bears play a home playoff game on Sunday, tell everyone "Thanks for the gifts, and Go Bears" because they be at Soilder Field, not the Baby Shower.
Secondly, My Current Job. I have to have a schedule posted by this Thursday, and I have to work either Saturday or Sunday (they really don't want me posting two schedules) .And on the 15th of every month, I have to do a full inventory of my store, and I only have one other manager that can work on Sunday's at the new store I'm in (again, more on this new store later)
And the biggest reason is if Bears can beat the Buccaneers with Kyle Orton, They can kill 'em with Grossman.
So please Football Gods, Give me a Bucaneers win, it'll be like the good 'ol days when the Bears would beat the Buc's twice a year. And Football Gods, if by some chane you could give Matt Haslebeck a sore shoulder or Shaun Alexander an MCL tear, we'd appriciate that the following week too.
Amen
